Oxygen Based Corrosion
Oxygen based corrosion occurs
with the presence of naturally occurring oxygen which is typical with
pumps supplying flow which have been improperly maintained. The
seals of these pumps intake atmospheric air and cause oxygen based
corrosion on various forms of oilfield equipment.
The main method of treating
this type of corrosion is with an oxygen scavenger. The injected
oxygen scavenger must be in physical contact with the fluid to remove
oxygen in this form.
The most Common injection methods
is continuous.
