Galvanic Corrosion
Galvanic corrosion occurs
with the presence of two dissimilar metals in a conductive medium.
For example, mixed copper and iron pipes in the presence of tap water
will cause this form of corrosion to occur.
The main method of treating
this type of corrosion is by installing a plastic plug or by
continuously adding a corrosion inhibitor. In some cases, a
sacrificial metal can be installed.
